comeback.!

It sucks not having the internet for almost a whole month. It seems technology really has taken over the 21st century. I felt trapped and used my hiptop to at least have access to the internet but even that wasn't the same. So I would result into going to the library.
I'm finally going to begin my applied to fashion design and technology course on monday and I went to the orientation yesterday which was the most boring 3 hours of my life. They had blah blahed on topics such as counsellors and occupational health and safety. I just want to sew full stop.
Anywho after that my friend and I went to spotlight and bought equipment that we need for the course at liverpool. Then we spotted a St Vinnies store with $2 racks outside which we ran straight for..I had just gotten maybe halfway through the store and had maybe 9 items already in my hand. The bonus to undergoing this course is that we're going to learn how to resize items... so I had a few things I am looking into resizing and redesigning certain items.
here are the things I decided to go with...

this I purchased because it had vibrant colours and seems like it fits in 2010..not that that really mattered.

this in the back of my head..i dont really suit mustard. but it was so cute and has powerful shoulders which I guess was big in the 80's. The spotty thing just made the whole jacket work but its a random flap of material that is connected by a button which i think i will sew on.
This was just cute and can go with any ensemble..and kind of reminded me a bit of jenny from gossip girl..just something about it.
this I swear I saw from two racks away..is it obvious I'm smitten with patterns

I loved the colours of this shirt which I am considering wearing tonight to my friends dinner..mm..

This I will crop to make a nice spring maybe even autumn jacket since the pattern seems to convey sort of either season.
A little OTT..I know..but the drapery around the neck was fabulous and the pattern is a rose which sounds lame but my middle name LOL.

I was in Tasmania last week for a couple of days with my mum and well there wasn't a St Vinnies there but there was a salvo which I know will make me sound like a tightass but it costs a bit more..but i found two items which weren't that bad and seemed to compliment each other.

Now if you tucked in this short sleeved tucked in the high waisted skirt looks pretty rad.

This is not a op-shop purchase more of a chain retail store purchase but it was cute and was only $10

I probably should stop shopping for a while coz I have to save something for the future right..boo saving..ok not really

day 7 of 2010

\Went for a walk this morning to the library so I could print out my invoice to pay for my fashion course and got there and realised I did not have my library card and couldn't use the computer. But silver lining was on the way back when I stopped by St Vinnies ..best store for vintage buys. I found some pretty good things actually..my intention was to find something to wear for tomorrow night for a friends farewell party. I found a very nice polyester shirt that seems long enough to be a dress and was a bargain at $3!

I figured I could wear it with black opaque tights and a pair of black heels. If it gets cold I would chuck in my karen walker black and white striped blazer that my dad got for me last year that I haven't worn because I haven't found a place to wear it..

I also got this multicoloured jacket type thing as well that I considered wearing tomorrow night. This was also $3... and this polkadot dress that I bought a couple of years ago was like $15 from this Asian clothing store. I think the chain necklace is the most pricey of the outfit and it was like $19 from Bondi, another place I want to go back and shop.

I also purchased a metre or 2 of fabric for $2 and a black purse that was a little plain so I thought I would add some studs to it. I figured I would do half of the flap instead of the whole because not only did I have not enough studs but it doesn't look so bad just half. My initial plan was just to do the perimeter of the flap but seemed a little simple so I just kept going. I am also considering a chain so it can become a shoulder bag.

day 5 of 2010

I cant believe its day 5 of the year and I haven't even fulfilled the challenge I set for myself which is taking a photo of each of my outfits each day..terrible..I wonder if anyone has every completed their new year resolutions..maybe someone has and I would like to meet them..I can't find my stupid cable to transfer my photos..
anywho today I went to a friends house and we played band hero..yesterday when they got it I was really good on the drums..I come back today and I'm not so good..I didn't even blink on on one of the songs just to hit all the right notes..oh well practice makes perfect..which is something i hope this fashion course I will undergo this year will do. I haven't made anything in a while because I have lack of funds to purchase new material..next thing I'm planning to create is another blazer..maybe a purple one with yellow and black stripe piping..

similar to the above..

I need more places to go so  I can wear more things. I will describe what I am wearing today which is a pair of right-fitting skinny jeans that I purchased from Canada and a T-shirt that says 'enjoy Canada Vancouver' which is in the style of a the coca cola label (grr to not having the cable for my camera!).

I didn't end up wearing my "I heart NY" shirt the other day because it was a hot day and wearing a grey shirt whilst the temperature was enough to set off the sweat glands is something you can give a miss to avoid any embarressment.

You know that rule that I think was preached by Nicole Richie.."if you find a good pair of good fitting jeans then buy 10 of them.." well i didn't buy 10 but i bought 5 because it was so cheap there..i figured if I ever needed to refresh my jeans collection and I win a million dollars I will fly back to buy most of my clothes there. My purpose in going to Canada a month ago was to see the variety of clothing there in comparison to here in Australia as well as see the country like a tourist blah blah..and it was great because I found H&M which had really great clothes.. its mass produced but hey! they don't have it here..and I think that is my what's the word?..trait? rule I live by? (as I said not good with the words) but buying something that I know noone will wear or have is my thing when I go shopping. So my cousin and I probably did 3 maybe 4 days straight of shopping and we found random stores like one called XXI forever which was the best store I think I have ever set foot in, in my life..it had all these really modern designs to suit all personalities and the jewellery was cheaper than it is here in Aus. Another day of shopping and we found a store downtown that was underground that was all thing vintage. Vintage seems to be the it thing through all the seasons or for someone who dares to be different..well that's what I think ..and it works..sometimes. But ye this vintage store was awesome..yes most of it I don't think I'm game enough to wear but I did rush straight to the bargain bin and found to really good shirts that I will post up soon (I promise..)

Actually I went shopping recently for the post christmas sales and got some really good bargains I wish to share. Because my lack of funds i don't get to purchase designer labels and stuff like that..I swear when I become a designer I want to design a line that is priced reasonably for anyone to buy..something like Marc Jacob's line "Marc by Marc Jacob's" which i assume is thousands of dollars cheaper. So during this shopping adventure I purchased a mini skirt that had two-tone skirt that was purple and white that I wore day 3 of 2010 and that was a bargain at $5.45..and these rusty type boots that slouch a little that said on the price label $20 but when she scanned it ..went down to $7.50..gotta love bargains!

They look similar to these..but minus the studs on the buckles and are black..but they have the same effect. These are what I have been wearing almost everyday because of the overcast / rainy weather.

I love it when you purchase something really cheap and wear it over and over again. I remember my first pair of skinny jeans. They were from Jay jays and they were black with studs on the ankle..they were $5 because they were faulty which was just the zipper..this was the time I had novice sewing skills so I improvised as they were a good fit and i used a safety pin to close it up and I have been so lazy to even put a proper zipper in its place. They have begun to fray actually, which is a sign I should probably get a new pair of black pants. That shall be my next investment.

pilot

Bonjour and Welcome to my first ever blog. I got the idea from the movie Julie & Julia where she started her own food blog and got addicted. Since i feel I am addicted to fashion i will blog about that. I'm not so big with the words so expect an abundance of pictures.

A little bit about myself...I studied nursing for 4 years and was miserable pretty much the whole way through as my true calling was to be in a creative field i.e. Fashion and to become a fashion designer or even stylist as i feel lately I've been more inclined to doing. So i came up with an idea which probably isn't original but has become my resolution for 2010 which is to picture my outfits each day for a whole year as like Amy Adams in Julie & Julia she sought out new recipes to try each day and blog about the disasters and successes of each recipe tried. So my plan is document my outfits each day and my inspirations or moods that influence what I wear and see my own successes and faux pas through the year.

Lately I have been watching Gossip Girl, I am a little delayed into joining the bandwagon of Gossip Girl goers and regret it massively and did not realise how amazing the costume is in that show.. so go Eric Daman who is the costume designer for the show. The girls in the show have such amazing looks that its hard to choose just one of them that I like so i have chosen all of them because they have their own particular style to match their personality. The character I feel i have a little in common with would be Little J because she loves to sew and clearly wants to work in the fashion field and also got to kiss Chace Crawford (..OK that we don't have in common but I wish we did)

Because of my recent addiction to the show the way I put my outfits recently have been highly influenced by the girls on the show. I'm a huge fan also of the actors behind the characters and their off screen outfits as well as other 'it' and 'not so it' actors that are inspirations to the way I dress.

It's late and I have to bring my dad to the airport tomorrow and I am now pondering upon the weather and whether I will finally wear my I heart NY shirt Mel got for me..

night..
